Amazon Prime: Homecoming Fall Awards Mailer

Our Role: Concepting, Art Direction, Design and Production

For the Homecoming Fall Awards Mailer, our task was to showcase the mystery of this exciting new series. To accomplish this, we created a kit welcoming viewers to Homecoming.

The book showcases unit photography, and was designed with off-kilter levels of information. Photography treatments include using multiple images of the same scene with slightly different perspectives and strange crops to keep the content suspicious and uncertain. Interior pages are treated in multiple ways. Half pages are bound in with excerpts from the scripts, and when flipped, the meaning morphs. Black tip in sheets with varying die-cut shapes are bound into the book and reveal additional information when turned. A folded poster is bound in, and when taken out is opened to reveal the entire image and text.

The exterior of the book is sealed, forcing the viewer to tear it open to discover the interior. Inside the book is a vacuum sealed DVD in a mylar aluminum pouch, referencing the secrecy and mystery of the “facility”. Nothing is what it seems—each ostensible “clue” leads the viewer further down the rabbit hole. The book and DVD are mailed in black Tyvek paper sealed with security tape.
